Pallavi felt all alone. She did not know what lies ahead of her. She is only 13 years old. She has 2 sisters aged 8 years and 5 years.  She missed her parents especially her mother very much. She just wanted her mother to come back and tell her everything was ok. But that would never happen. She had dropped out of school to take care of her 2 little sisters. Her mother and father had died in the Pandemic.

About 30 kms from Coimbatore city in Tamilnadu near the reserve forests there are numerous tribal settlements and villages. During the pandemic, numerous tribals (indigenous people) lost their lives to COVID and COVID related ailments. This is how, many children like Pallavi lost their father or mother or both during this time…..

Many of these children dropped out of school as, in the absence of their parents:
-- They had to work to make ends meet or
-- Take care of younger siblings or household chores or
-- Were too depressed to study
   
We have been working with these children and are trying really hard to enrol them back into schools. This will help them not only to continue their studies but also to come in terms with the grief of losing a parent. We have helped numerous such families. We still have around 9 families which need help.
