We are raising Rs. 1,50,000 to provide food and medical assistance to needy transgender people from Lucknow, who are facing a shortage of funds owing to the pandemic.
About the Beneficiaries
The second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed Lucknow back into lockdown. Many transgender folks in the city are seriously affected by lockdown restrictions, as their entire livelihood depends on begging in buses, trains, and religious ceremonies. In the absence of all these sources of income, they are struggling to make ends meet. It is a similar case with MSM(gay) daily wage labourers whose work has stopped, heavily slashing down their incomes. This fundraiser is aimed at providing them access to rations and medical supplies during these trying times. Please help us ensure the well-being of the most marginalized people by fulfilling their basic needs.
Here is a breakdown of the funds
Ration packets: 100 people * Rs. 1000 = Rs. 1,00,000
Medicines: 100 people * Rs. 500 = Rs. 50,000
About the Queer Support Group
We are a collective based in Lucknow, that started as a space where queer people of the city gather anonymously to shares traumas and build solidarities. We have organized several educational sessions with prominent activists, sharing circles, and storytelling events where people from the community flocked every Sunday before the lockdown. To support the trans members who are in grave financial trouble, we are raising funds for ration and medicines.
