Bengal is struggling. In the deadly second wave of the pandemic, migrant workers and trans people in rural north Bengal are already seeing a significant reduction in daily income, which they depend on for their livelihoods. With cases rising, things will only get worse.

The poorly planned, hastily announced national lockdown was disastrous for so many people last year. We have gone to Aliporeduar today to give basic kits with masks and medication to trans communities there. With the funds raised from this round of fundraising, a group of volunteers will distribute basic provisions to trans folks and migrant workers in rural north Bengal to mitigate some of the horrific impacts this wave is having.
