True Story:
Imagine living in a world with little or no light when the sun sets. That’s the plight of an estimated 300 million Indians — a quarter of the population, mostly the rural poor. The provision of electricity to towns and villages is well known to be irregular and unpredictable. There are even more villages that are not connected to electricity. Kerosene lamps provide light and there are health costs from kerosene, which is the main source of lighting for 43 percent of rural India. India is the country where we celebrate the festival of light but on the other side our own people are suffering for many years in darkness.
About the Fundraiser:
Neighbourhood Foundation, which is working to enhance the life quality of the rural population, initiated a “Let’s light India” campaign, from this Diwali to bring people from the darkness by providing solar lights in the identified villages. The solar lights will be very helpful for the children to study during night time. For this festival season one can change the life of people by donating for the campaign to bring light in the life of the people.
