Imagine the pristine beauty of the Himalayas, a sanctuary of biodiversity and the source of the sacred Ganga River. Now, imagine this paradise drowning in plastic.
In Ganga Bhogpur Malla, a village nestled on the edge of the majestic Rajaji National Park, this is the grim reality. The lack of organized waste management systems has led to open dumping and the burning of plastic. This crisis pollutes our soil and rivers, spoils the experience for visitors, and poses a deadly threat to wildlife, who often ingest plastic waste. The situation is getting worse with the increasing waste generated by tourism.
We are the
Him Village E-Prahari Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting our fragile Himalayan ecosystem, and we have a proven solution to turn the tide.
Our Success Story: A Proven Model for Change!
We didn't just start with a dream; we started with action. We launched a prototype "Zero Waste Village" project in Ganga Bhogpur Malla, and the results have been incredible.
In just one year, working with only 65 households, we have:
Our Next Mission: From 65 Homes to the Entire Village!
Now, we are ready to take the next big step. Our goal is to expand this successful model to cover all
300 households in Ganga Bhogpur and transform it into a model Zero Waste Himalayan Village.

Our Success Story: A Proven Model for Change!
We didn't just start with a dream; we started with action. We launched a prototype "Zero Waste Village" project in Ganga Bhogpur Malla, and the results have been incredible.
In just one year, working with only 65 households, we have:
- Diverted over 4,000 kg of waste from being dumped in forests and the Ganga River.
- Engaged 65 households, 1 school, 1 homestay, and 3 local shops in regular waste segregation at the source.
- Mobilized a strong network of over
50+ community volunteers, strengthening community ownership. - Successfully sent dry waste to registered recyclers through a basic Mini Material Recovery Facility (MRF) model.
Our Next Mission: From 65 Homes to the Entire Village!
Now, we are ready to take the next big step. Our goal is to expand this successful model to cover all
300 households in Ganga Bhogpur and transform it into a model Zero Waste Himalayan Village.
We aim to:
- Achieve
90% regular waste collection across 300 households along the 5 km village stretch. - Establish and operationalize a
Material Recovery Facility (MRF) capable of processing 1,000-1,500 kg of waste per day. - Create dignified
livelihoods for at least 2-3 local individuals as "Him Sathis" (community waste workers). - Engage schools, homestays, resorts, and shops to ensure active participation in sustainable waste practices.
- Develop a replicable blueprint that can be used to transform other Himalayan villages.
Your contribution will directly fuel this environmental revolution. The funds raised will be used for:
- Building a Temporary Waste Collection Center (Mini MRF): To efficiently segregate, bale, and process waste.
- Providing Equipment: Distributing specialized waste collection bags to all 300 households and businesses and providing safety gear to our waste workers.
- Supporting Livelihoods: Providing a monthly salary to our dedicated "Him Sathis" who will manage door-to-door collection.
- Awareness and Education: Conducting training programs, door-to-door campaigns, and running eco-clubs in schools to build a generation of green ambassadors.
Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to a clean and green Himalayas. Your donation can have a tangible impact:
- Donate ₹2,000: Help us purchase 100 mini waste bags to support 25 families in starting their waste segregation journey.
- Donate ₹5,000: Fund an awareness program to mobilize the community and build ownership for the project.
- Donate ₹8,000: Sponsor the training for our "Him Sathis" (community waste workers), empowering them with the skills for a green livelihood.
- Donate ₹10,000: Cover the monthly salary for one "Him Sathi," creating a dignified, local green job.
- Your ₹30,000 Donation = A Full Year of Zero-Waste Support for 25 Families
