About Maan Foundation
The Maan Foundation has been started by two boys from GB Road to help the community of sex workers in the area. Kunal and Akash, themselves are a part of the community. They are from GB Road, New Delhi and have been working tirelessly since April 2020 towards relief work for the sex worker community on GB Road.
Maan Foundation’s Vision
The meaning of “Maan” is respect. That’s what we stand up for. We want to create community solutions that bring and give back respect to the deserving women and the community of GB Road. We aspire to create solutions that solve problems, empower and make an impact in the lives of the people who live in this red-light district.
About Team
Kunal Kumar
My name is Kunal. I am 20 years old. I passed my secondary education from Open School in 2020. I am the founder of the Maan Foundation. I bring the resources to the foundation and communicate with them. I also manage the media related content that includes several media houses- Caravan, Times of India, India TV, The Citizen, Outlook Magazine. I am also taking care of team management in the foundation.
Akash
I am Akash and I live in Delhi’s red-light area. I have been residing in the same year since my birth. I completed my schooling till standard 10th from CBSE but in the initial stages of the pandemic, I had to leave school. ‘Light Up’ has helped me with my education, therapy and skill development since then and I have enrolled for 12th standard from NIOS. I work for Maan Foundation to help my community. I work in the field and will be working there as I have a good hold of it.

The Maan Foundation is affiliated with Light Up (Emotions Matter Foundation) which has been training them as grassroots leaders in problem-solving, negotiation, resilience communication, decision-making skills, etc. to put to use on the ground and help uplift the sex worker community. Light Up (EMF) is a New Delhi-based non-profit organization, founded in 2017 that has been working with children from child care institutions, urban slums, and the sex worker community through promotive and preventive work in social-emotional learning.
