Our aim with this campaign is to set up 20 libraries and computer labs in schools, old age homes and orphanages providing access to the underprivileged.
As part of the Librarywallah Initiative, we have been setting up small libraries and computer labs for schools, orphanages, and old aged homes since 2012. We have set up more than 40+ libraries and 15+ mini computer labs in cities and villages across India. In this fulfilling journey we have worked with NGOs like Teach For India, Future Hope, Indivillage Foundation, Kahaani Ki Dukaan, Pratham books, Mobility India, Akansha Foundation, Goonj, National Association for the Blind and several more.
We are currently setting up multiple libraries and labs across locations in West Bengal, and the North East, and are seeking your help in taking the joy of reading to the underprivileged.
Most of the kids in the NGOs we support come from single parent familes and are curious and eager to read!! They want to grow up and become doctors, astronauts,engineers and police officers!! We believe that reading books will help them excel in academics and life skills, helping them achieve their dreams.
We are also helping in buying text books for underprivileged students in different locations as part of the program in support of students in Teach for India supported schools. The children come from low income familes, their parents are mostly daily wage earners.
How can you help:
Even a donation of Rs 100 helps as a children's book costs as low as Rs 30. We are a low cost lean operation and are staffed totally with volunteers working pro bono so every single rupee is spent on books and labs.
We also buy books from low cost organisations like Pratham Books and Children's Book Trust. Our volunteers also collect books from kind donors and deliver to the library centers.
