Team WINGS is the official off-road racing team of Maharashtra Institute of Technology, Aurangabad. The team was founded in 2009, Consists of 50 budding engineering students who participate in the annual SAE Baja India Series , SAE Supra India & Enduro Student India competitions against upwards of 300 teams from around the country.
What is BAJA SAE?
BAJA SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers) is an intercollegiate engineering design competition for undergraduate engineering students. Students design and build an Off-Road Concept Vehicle (ORCV), which aspires to achieve market-leading vehicles' performance in terms of speed, handling ride and ruggedness, in off-road conditions.
The competition makes the fabricated ATV undergo many tests including inspection of the design of the vehicle. The other parameters include durability, sustainability, and robustness. The different tests that BAJA conducts for every team at the event include static events which comprise of Design Evaluation, Cost Evaluation, and Sales Presentation.
Dynamic events include the Acceleration event, Hill Climb event, Suspension & Traction event and Endurance race. Every year, as many as 180 Baja cars are entered in Baja SAE events across the US and around the world including India, China, Brazil, South Africa, and Korea.
