From cities submerged underwater to raging flames in some of the wettest and coldest parts of the globe, we are in the midst of an era where the earth is screaming in protest of its destruction at our hands. These, coupled with overcrowded cities, loss of jobs in the midst of an economic slowdown, and the ever-growing pollution all around us are things that should be keeping us up at night, wondering where the human race is headed. 

These are things that disturbed us, making us want to do our tiny bit to make things better. This project started with one person, coaxed by a friend to walk the talk and start working on a single target, and has now grown to a large group of misfits from varied walks of life, who grew into a family with a common vision. United under the banner of Sphuran Industries, we decided to take a time-bound challenge for the betterment of the environment, and work beyond its aims, by picking the World Solar Challenge 2019. 

The Arena

The Bridgestone World Solar Challenge 2019 requires us to build a fully functional, practical solar-electric sedan, with an effective range of at least 1200 kms per charge, while driving at an average speed of over 75 km/h on a journey across the country of Australia. With over 24 countries participating, we are India's only team at this prestigious event. While this is a challenge in itself, our aims are to exceed this. Most electric cars produce 68% more CO2 emissions during manufacturing than a traditional car, with the source Working on a budget that is a tenth of most teams, we are working towards technologies that use homogenized natural materials in structural components, innovative control mechanisms and power-train components, and a solar system designed by us from scratch. With very little time left for the event, we need all the help we can get to go and represent our nation in this arena.

What are the funds for?

To finish our final car 'Wattsun' and take the car and the team to Australia. We have been pooling in funds so that the project does not come to a standstill and are stretched thin right now. Any and every contribution of each one of you would make it possible for 'Wattsun' to reach Australia.
