Swapna who is in her 50s is living with her only daughter is in need of our support. In 2012, Swapna met with a serious road accident and was admitted to the hospital where she was in coma for many days. After staying in coma she was shifted to the ICU for her further treatments, her hospital bills kept on rising along with the medicine expenses left their financial condition very unstable as her daughter was in school at that time and her fees, their house rent and all made their financial problems more serious. Her husband had a paralysis attack during her accident treatment but due to financial crisis he didn't get the treatment he required. After Swapna got discharged from the hospital, she was diagnosed with polytrauma from the road accident. After a year or two, her husband met with a road accident and after being hospitalized he was in serious condition and passed away. Her daughter was attending high school at that time and money started to become an issue after her mother and father both met with accident and her being still a student. Swapna who used to take tuitions prior to her accident had been unable to continue them due to her polytrauma. They lived in rented house which was using up the rest of the savings left. She had to sell her jewellery to run the house, so to avoid extra money wastage she stopped taking her medicines.
Her daughter decided to support her mother so instead of paying attention to her studies like other kids her age, she started selling agarbatti and tried to contribute to the household expenses. But her own health was not agreeing with her walking and selling agarbatti from door to door so she searched for a place to put up a little stall to sell her agarbatti. Slowly but gradually their savings ended and left them helpless. No one was helping them so gradually her daughter stopped bringing agarbatti to sell as they were brought from her mother's savings.
From the past few years their lives have detoriated further as they have no savings and so they are in many problems due to the financial crisis like paying the rent, food and her daughter's education. Swapna and her daughter often tend to go days where they don't get a single bite of food in their stomach but her daughter still goes to the stall she puts on the roadside to hopefully earn money and that will support her in paying the rent as they need a shelter over their heads. Due to Covid, their condition has become very worse and if they don't get our support they might not survive through their current situation. As the colleges are currently going online her daughter doesn't have a phone to attend her classes and has to ask to others if they will allow her to attend her classes on their mobile phones or PCs but often she hears no and laughed at for not having the money to buy a new phone. With the arrival of festivals she doesn't even have the money to buy agarbatti to sell at her stall. Her mother is incapable of going out to work so that stall is their only support.
Time is hard for them as the amount is not arranged and this fundraiser which was started many months ago still not has received the response from all of us. We all together can support them through this fundraiser, even if we can contribute a minimum amount of 500rs it will start the process of healing their lives. Swapna and her daughter will be thankful for your help and support towards this fundraiser. If we can support someone why don't we come forward and help in the cause.
