Daftee Foundation is a section-8 company building safer solutions for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. The chatbot, an intersection of tech and humanity, is a free, 24/7, judgement-free space that redirects survivors to specific resources they might need, whether in case of emergencies or to simplify conversations around sexual and domestic violence. 

Daftee is a survivor-led non-profit that works towards developing safe and inclusive solutions for survivors of sexual and domestic violence. As a small team, the past 4 months have been spent working on iterations and edits to their model to ensure that it is constantly evolving for the better.

 
The chatbot works through a friendly, guided conversation to identify the needs of the user and provide fact-checked and vetted resources across multiple avenues such as legal, mental health and social support. It is available round-the-clock, free of cost and in three languages: English, Hindi, and Hinglish to maximise accessibility. Within the first month itself, it garnered over 4,520 messages, 1,537 inbound messages, and 2,990 outbound ones.

 
The team being survivors themselves, they have experienced the utter lack of support, victim blaming, and misinformation that surrounds these instances. With that understanding, it is ensured that all conversations are treated with utmost privacy and confidentiality to ensure that the approach is empathetic at its core.

 
Daftee Foundation was initially a part-time collective that ran a peer support group that reached over 300 survivors and over 10,000 people through social media. It has now evolved into a platform that, in addition to the chatbot and peer support groups, offers sensitised legal and mental health resource lists and creates awareness through social media.

After being bootstrapped for a year, we now open our cause up to the public. We hope that you can help us expand our reach across languages and geographies.
