My name is Vartika Kathuria and today here I am in front of you all to seek your help for my husband, Surinder Kumar.
They say when a problem comes it does not come alone and that is what is happening with my family.
It all started on the day in March 2021 when Surinder got up in the morning with excruciating pain in the leg for which we consulted the doctor at DMC Ludhiana.
All hell broke loose when the reports of the investigation came, Surinder got diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma.
On one hand, the COVID 19 outbreak was peaking in India and on the other hand, I alone was knocking on the doors of the hospitals taking along Surinder for the treatment and 2nd opinions wishing if the reports were wrong.
We found rescue at Deep Hospital Ludhiana Punjab and we started Chemotherapy for Surinder and after 1st cycle of chemotherapy, the listening struck again when my husband Surinder contracted COVID 19 virus.
My courage had started fading away with the savings depleting with every passing hour. The times are tough and that stopped me from seeking and taking help from the people I know.
He is receiving Chemotherapy at Deep Hospital but not yet admitted. Until now, we have spent about Rs. 525000/-
Surinder works on a contractual basis with a Government department and that his salary stopped adding as he could not work while undergoing treatment and that means no salary for him.
The lightning struck again when my mother in law and father in law both contracted Covid 19 and ended up in hospital.
My entire moral and financial support got broken within days and everything came crashing when my father in law and mother in law both died because of COVID 19 with Surinder still being admitted to the hospital for COVID complications and sobbing in pain and despair for losing his both parents.
The repeated trauma over months has my courage and savings drained and left with no money to keep the chemotherapy going.
My husband still has to undergo Autologous Bone Marrow Transplant for which we have no funds at all. We will need Rs. 2500000/-
All I have is a job for which I struggle to work as my heart and mind are occupied with the tension of not having the funds to get the treatment going.
I still have to work to put food on the plate for my our only child Aabir. He is so young and is already going through a trauma seeing the depleting health of his father and me struggling every day.
I request you all to please help us!
Surinder is curable and doctors have high hopes for his recovery provided the treatment is done in time.
We again want to return to our normal lives. I am tired of being traumatized one after another.
It has been tough and we are just requesting you to help us with any contribution you wish to do and that brings back my family to normal.
Every single contribution matters to us, small or big.
I extend my deepest gratitude for your kindness.
