Help Sumeer Kumar Undergo Open Heart surgery and Kidney Transplant

Dear Donors,

Sumeer Kumar (age 45) primarily a fitness consultant had an acute renal failure and was on dialysis since 2012. He under went a cadaver kidney transplant in 2015. However this  transplant failed in 2018 ( reasons are unknown), and he had to restart his dialysis since January 2019. His second kidney transplant was scheduled on 7th of April (wife as the donor). Mean while, on the 19th of March while undergoing regular dialysis he had an aortic dissection - type B and had to undergo an Emergency Open Heart Surgery at the Apollo Hospital Greams Road on the 20th of March, 2019. Post his recovery from this surgery which is approximately 2 months from now the kidney transplant can be rescheduled.

Estimated bill amount by the hospital is around Rs.23 lakhs. 15 lakhs for the Open Heart Surgery and recuperation and Rs 8 Lakhs for the Transplant surgery.

We as Sumeer's family are doing all we can to raise the funds needed. We also want to reach out to his close friends and associates for pitching in at this time of need with whatever amount is possible by you.
Please do keep Sumeer in your prayers too, for him to bounce back on the path of recovery and lead a healthy life.

Dear family & friends,

This is Sumeer writing in with a short update. I have been the beneficiary of your grace, kindness, and sense of duty of doing the right thing. Deepest thanks.
It's been 50 odd days since I got discharged, Ideally, I would have preferred to write a long note covering various aspects including the feelings, emotions, challenges that are part of recovery for somebody like me who stayed in critical care for 55 days without knowing sun and moon and the time. There are days when I feel good and there are other days when I struggle, its all part of the recovery I guess, which in turn delayed this update.
As I ready myself physically, mentally and emotionally to undergo a possible 2nd kidney transplant, there are thousands of thoughts and emotions that flood me, which make me feel both good and bad. Then I think of my family, friends and the innumerable great human beings, it provides me hope and strength to return fully fit and ready. I hope to share my story with all the good and gory details, hoping that all of us will experience it and also learn from it. Taking a short break for now.

Catch you soon. Hoping for your continued support.
Deepest regards and Love

Hello friends,

Its with a glad heart I bring some good tidings about Sumi. He has been shifted to the ward post his 3rd surgery in a month and is making rapid positive progress to recovery. The latest surgery performed on 19th evening lasted 3 hours and is called VATS (Video assisted Thoracic surgery) , which was to remove fluid stuck in various parts of his lungs.
He withstood the surgery very well, thanks to his past good deeds and the prayers of all the extended family members.

Most of his vital signs and indicators are good. Doctors are suggesting another 4-5 days of stay at the hospital, to ensure good recovery and strength. Please pray for his early discharge from the hospital so that he may join family and friends and be able to play with his children.
Our heartfelt thanks for being there with us and supporting us in all possible ways.

Just knowing that so many of you have done the right thing and in the most open way is so heartening.

Thanks and prayers

Dear friends,

I am Seetha, Sumeer's sister-in-law giving you this update

Sumeer is still in CCU. He had been shifted to the ward last Thursday (11th April) but had to be re admitted in the CCU that night itself, as there was a recurrence of fluid in the lungs accompanied with fever.  Numerous tests are being done to locate the cause of this. He is being very brave and fighting through it all. Maryann as always, is the pillar of strength to him at this time and is constantly by his side taking care of him, cheering him up and giving him confidence during this phase. We his family members are trying our best to support her and are praying for Sumeer to recuperate and recover completely and for them to start living their joyful life again at the earliest.

We are unable to reach out to you all individually at this point in time, but please do know that we are deeply grateful for friends and well wishers like you all. Your support and wishes have given Sumeer and us the courage to face this testing time. Please do keep Sumeer in your prayers. We shall keep you updated with his recovery soon...
Thanks
