My lovely & strong mom, Suman Atnur, 71 years, was doing as much as she could in taking care of my bedridden dad, who has Parkinson’s from past 6years, which makes him difficult to stand, sit by himself or have his food so is on 24x7 nursing care.
It all started in April’18 with a small lump under her right breast after further investigations it turned out to be Stage III Breast Cancer.
My mother has always been taking care of my father & this sudden diagnosis struck us like a bolt of lightning.
I wanted the best treatment for my mother, and after consulting multiple oncologists, we decided to start the treatment in Bengaluru, and she was immediately started with aggressive Chemotherapy as the lump was quite big, followed by a Surgery & then followed by Radiation, which was completed by Dec’18.
We were hopeful of things returning back to normal, but a spell of giddiness in Jan’19 & a series of investigations revealed that the Cancer had spread to the brain. This was really devastating for us.
My mother is always a fighter, since even after withstanding high dose chemo and tolerating its side effects, she is strong willed. However the cost of all this treatment has taken its toll on me financially. The treatment so far has costed a staggering 20lakhs, and as am the only earning member, I am finding it difficult to fund my mother’s cancer treatment further.
How can you Help?
Mom has recently (last week) undergone Tomotherapy to her brain & tolerated well, which costed 1.5Lakhs & now needs an immediate Targeted Therapy which shall cost around 11Lakhs more for next 3months of treatment followed by an assessment.
