We hope you are doing well. Our organization Ayang Trust has been working in Majuli, a river island in Assam for the last five years. Majuli is a geographically isolated and flood prone region. As a result of the geographical terrain, there is a lack of opportunities and infrastructure which has negatively impacted the education and livelihoods of the communities in the region. We as an organization take an intersectional approach to address the issues present in the community.
During our five years in Majuli, we have seen that many children are not pursuing any higher education, while there are many opportunities available for them to grow as individuals and earn substantial incomes if they pursue higher studies..
Since 2021, we have conducted career counseling sessions for students who have passed 10th and 12th grades to help them become aware of the higher education opportunities available to them. All the 12 students belong to below poverty line families and are not in a position to meet the expenses for higher education. We are running this campaign to raise Rs. 11,00,000/- to support their academic journeys, we would seek any support that can be given!
