Greetings!
We, Arushi Srivastava and Rameez M Sydeek, are Teach for India fellows teaching 30 students each in Grade 3 and 2 classrooms, respectively, in Gautam Nagar, Delhi.
Post-pandemic, we have prioritised Social-Emotional Learning for our students by starting Project Bhawna and partnering with Saturday Art Class. Right now, we are raising funds to provide a safe space where each kid can express themselves through Art.
The students have been impacted in ways we are just beginning to understand. Apart from everyday learning, their extracurriculars, peer learning, social interactions, mental health and daily routines have taken a huge hit. Even in the classrooms, they struggle to express themselves and create a safe space for themselves.
We also want our kids to be the next gen-learners and learn through visual aids. Hence, we are raising funds for a projector for our respective classrooms.
With each discomfort and struggle, our students have shown us what it means to overcome and not let it limit their potential. They are happy, eager to learn, and excited to shower us with love. They teach us to be kind and truly happy.
We executed the first Saturday Art Class lesson of Project Bhawna in both classrooms, and the response was tremendous. Our students loved it, and they are eager for more. We want our students to see a beautiful classroom where they can come and dance, meet, learn from one another and return to their second home - a safe space to be and learn.
This festive season, please help us in helping our kids, and make their learning experience beautiful!
FAQs
1. Where will your funds be used?
A. Partnering with Saturday Art Class (5k per classroom), Projector (approx 7k per classroom)
School supplies (charts, stationery, printing worksheets for our students ~1k per month)
We can also benefit from old games and books.
2. Can you come and visit our centre?
We will be very, very excited to have you amongst us. Contact either of us, and we will let you know the exact address. Our students love to see new faces, shower so much love on you, and will have many, many questions for you :D
3. How will this help students?
Students in our class are currently below their grade reading levels. We need to bridge this gap and make learning fun which is why we need a projector.
Our goal for the students is to be independent human beings who are in control of their emotions. Our Project Bhawna, where we have partnered with Saturday Art Class, will help us achieve the same.
