Are you someone who has completed college education in India? Then you are among the privileged few in this country. 50% of students drop out of the school system before completing grade 10 and more than 70% do not make it to college. Inequality, hunger, poor health, air and water quality are just some of the major constraints that prevent India's children from reaching their full potential. The odds are even worse if you happen to be a girl child.
My name is Nupur Hukmani and I work as Asst. School Leader in a low budget private school that serves underserved communities in the oldest and one of the most marginalized parts of Pune city. The parents of our students are mostly auto rickshaw drivers, daily wage laborers and domestic helpers. Most of our students are first generation learners and literally noone in their family has made it to college. However, their parents and our school are deeply invested in the idea that only an excellent education can probably help one break this cycle of poverty.
The annual fees per child is INR25,000 including books and stationary. There are 10 students currently in grade 10 who are unable to pay their fees. These students are sincere, hardworking, invested in their education and well-being and are excited about completing college. The only thing that might prevent them from doing so is generational poverty. The school has promised to wave off INR10,000 from their fees. I am sharing this fundraiser to request you to help me pay the rest of their fees.
If you think education should not be a privilege for a few but a right that should be accessible to all, please consider donating to my fundraiser. No amount is too small. Please do consider donating to the fundraiser and liking and sharing it in your networks too.
The school, Jawahar English Medium School runs under a trust named Jawahar Shikshan Mandal and is compliant on all government rules. Help these 10 bright, young minds to make it to college without having to worry about their fees. Thank you!
