The Indian Media Alliance or IMA is geared towards offering opportunities for media and marketing awareness and tools for students from underserved communities. In a diverse country such as India, class, gender, religion, and status influence the availability of educational opportunities in all areas including this one. This has resulted in media and marketing professionals being consolidated in the high-income and high-status societies of the country.
IMA aims to bridge the gap to foster diversity in these fields by empowering young individuals from underrepresented communities through education and awareness raising. In this vein, we have curated resources such as workbooks and toolkits that facilitate the development of critical thinking, media literacy, and journalistic writing skills. Our I MATTER expert-led sessions are an extension of these resources, through which students can learn the importance of fact-checking and presenting verifiable information. IMA acknowledges that unique and eye-catching design is an important part of marketing and media, which is why we are also in the process of organizing a workshop where students can learn how to use Canva.
The Indian Media Alliance is now partnering with a well-known NGO, Prajna Foundation, to seek funds for the procurement and distribution of laptops and Canva subscriptions to aid students at the organization in their efforts in the pursuit of a career in media and marketing.
