Nature was my best teacher while growing up near the Western Ghats. Exploring birds, snakes, and butterflies taught me to be patient and ask questions. When I moved to Bangalore, I noticed something sad. Kids didn't enjoy studying, and they didn't see how it mattered in their lives. I worried because learning isn't just for school; it's for life.

Learn Around Nature(LAN), is tailored for 500 secondary school students from low-income families in Bengaluru. Over 10 months, LAN merges classroom education with nature experiences to address academic and social learning gaps. It uses storytelling, arts, STEM activities, and games to make learning science and social studies exciting, covering 60% of the state syllabus.
Divided into three modules - Landscape, Biodiversity, and Human Connection - LAN intertwines ecology and climate change with local environments. Our aim is to nurture 21st-century skills, boost academics, and raise community awareness. The program runs from June to March, offering an immersive educational journey.Thicket Tales' Mission and Approach:
Our goal is simple: help kids understand school better by using nature. LAN is all about exciting activities and talks about nature and how it links to what they learn in books.
Your impact of Contribution:Our ambition is to raise ₹10,00,000 to host LAN for these 500 children from 6 low- income private schools and 4 community centres in 2024. Your contribution directly impacts lives. 100% of your support goes towards nurturing these immersive nature-based experiences for children. None of it will be diverted towards administrative or overhead expenses.
We’ve developed a low-cost model that works with college students and volunteer facilitators, undergirded by a strong, structured, curriculum, to reach students across Bangalore.
