The loss of livelihood and sources of income led to access to smartphones taking a backseat in their priority list.
My friends and I are Teach for India fellows, teaching 229 curious minds in elementary grades 1 to 5 in five different government schools in Delhi. Working for the past 3 months and bonding with the kids and their families on a daily basis, we realized almost 100+ students do not have ANY access to smart devices and the internet to attend the virtual teaching happening through Zoom and other platforms. They are not only missing out on education but essential socio-emotional learning.
We aim to bridge this digital divide at our schools’ level by helping the students get access to a smart device and internet, enabling them to attend the virtual classrooms until school reopens for them.
Please contribute to our Milaap campaign, currently aimed at purchasing devices for 15 students.
Remember, it takes a village to raise a child. You can start that village today.
Accountability of all proceeds will be 100% transparent and will be shared regularly
