Year 2014. The people of Erki Kala, a rural village in Aurangabad district of Bihar, celebrated as a school welcomed their children to a world of knowledge and opportunities. Once a dream of three IITians and their non-profit organization, Bal Mangal Education Trust -- Rise High Public School is now a happy reality for over 325 children.
Here, through lessons on the playground, books, tunes and colors, students are empowered to learn and unlearn, build respect for every individual, and realize how education can transform the world. Here, nurtured by dedicated teachers and a community that has their parents at the forefront, they are today’s learners and tomorrow’s leaders.
Rise High Public School is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and is a model for similar initiatives planned by the Trust in other rural regions of India. The school’s alumni have topped the state in Board exams and qualified for science Olympiads. Students have represented Bihar in sports and made their state and district proud at dance and music competitions.

Our students are all achievers – every word written, every line sung, and every game played is a win against their present circumstances. Their parents’ financial conditions are already fragile, and the COVID-19 pandemic has destroyed livelihoods in many single-income households of our students.
Your help will ensure that our bright minds continue their educational journey and their little victories bring joy to their families in these tough times. You will receive regular updates from the student you sponsor and be involved in his/her learning adventures – because you can truly make a difference, we believe!
We aim to expand to 400 RHPS total students in 2021. Under the RTI Act, we provide free education to kids who come from poor households - and that's 25% (100 students) of our school. While the school is self-sufficient to fund most of these kids' education, we could use your help this year towards children's education. If we can get 40 students sponsored through this campaign, it will help us keep our goal of providing free education to 100 kids intact.
