I am Taisa Arora, a student of DP 1 at Pathways School Gurgaon. Understanding the importance of vaccines and to stand up for the voiceless, I decided to initiate a project for vaccinations for dogs.
In association with Jeevshakti Foundation, the amount raised from this initiative will fund vaccinations for 175 dogs. Each vaccine costs INR 250 approx. and our aim is to be able to vaccinate the maximum number of strays so they have the opportunity to live a fuller life.
About Jeevshakti Foundation
"The word 'Jeev' means living beings and 'Shakti' means power, together the word "JEEVSHAKTI” means 'Empowering All Living Beings'. We are a registered Trust based in Delhi, feeding and taking care of over 550 dogs daily. These four legged animals and two wings birds became our responsibility - relying on us for their daily meals, de-worming, vaccinations, medical care and most important of all sterilizations.

Just like humans, dogs and cats also need vaccinations against dangerous viral and bacterial diseases. Vaccines help prepare a dog's immune system to defend itself from any invasion of disease-causing organisms. It also protects against transmissible diseases such as rabies that also pose a risk to humans.

After having their initial vaccinations as puppies, the dog will need yearly booster vaccines throughout their life.
WHAT IS RABIES AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO CONTROL IT?
Rabies - A viral disease affecting the central nervous system, rabies is transmitted through bites, scratches, and usually via saliva from an infected animal.
As per WHO, 36% of the world’s rabies deaths occur in India each year. Rabies is a vaccine-preventable disease and can be stopped if it is treated before symptoms occur. Once symptoms appear it becomes a fatal disease.
WHY VACCINATE 6 in 1?
The DHPP vaccine protects against a number of severe viral illnesses in dogs, including distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, and parvovirus. It is highly recommended for every dog.
WHAT HAVE WE DONE?
Jeevshakti Foundation vaccinated over 1385 dogs & cats with Anti Rabies and 589 with 6 in 1 in the past 5 years.
