Our tree plantation project in details
Who we are ?
Himalayan Ecotourism is a social enterprise, working in the field of conservation and women empowerment, and we organizes tours and treks in and around the Great Himalayan National Park. Our efforts have been recently recognized by the Indian Responsible Tourism Award team.
Afforestation
The aim of this project is to plant trees in the ecozone of the Great Himalayan National park. The trekking trail between Pekhri and Rangthar is devoid of any vegetation due to intentional forest fires. We are planning to set up a nursery at Pekhri and plant trees in the barren areas. This project is the brain child of our cooperative members who will carry out all the work. Only planting trees is not enough but major work of the cooperative is to nurture trees and protect them from forest fires and animals. Women empowerment
A part of your donation also goes to the local women who are trained by our organisation to make natural handmade products. They will proudly send you one of their excellent product. When donating let us know which local product you want. The larger impact of our project
Our project does not end with planting 1000 trees per year but has a greater social impact. As our cooperative members will put efforts and spend time for the project they should take the necessary steps for protecting the young trees. Hence they will surely address the issue of intentional forest fires. They will become defenders of the environment.
Budget
All this comes at a cost of ₹500 per tree including the contribution to women empowerment effort. For the project to be viable we need to plant at least 1000 trees every year. Therefore our aim is to collect at least ₹500,000 in one year.
