"My daughter is fighting death every second of her life. A cruel blood disease has taken away all her strength; she cries day and night because of severe body pain. My husband and I ran to every person we know to save our little one, but we are still short of funds. We are helpless and don’t know what to do as we are running out of time to save her.” - Shailaja, Srilakshmi's mother.
Little Srilakshmi who is just 6 years old has never attended school in her life. At an age where she should be care-free and happy, she is battling every moment of her life with a severe form of blood disease.

This 6-year-old has forgotten the taste of food and thinks blood is pomegranate juice

“She was so scared of  blood transfusions that we had to convince her that blood is a pomegranate juice and platelets are orange juice. he hardly knows the difference between medicines and food. I had promised her that she would soon get to eat her favorite food again, but I have failed. Her life is fully consumed by hospitals and medicines. The doctors have told that this time it’s far worse than before, I am terrified to think that her little body has to battle death again,” - Shailaja.
Shailaja and Jagdish were relieved to see their daughter recovering after she underwent a bone marrow transplant to fight her blood disease, a month ago. Jagdish was prepared to work hard to clear all the debts that he had incurred and provide a decent living for his children. Shailaja had packed all their belongings and were about to vacate the hospital room to start a fresh life. But when little Srilakshmi was taken for her final general medical test, their life changed again for the worst. They were told that disease has relapsed.

Srilakshmi is left with only five days for a life-saving transplant

6-year-old Srilakshmi is suffering from Fanconi anemia, a severe form of blood disorder that prevents the bone marrow from making enough new blood cells for the body to work normally. She urgently needs a bone marrow transplant without which the child will not survive. Srilakshmi is currently under intense chemotherapy treatment which the parents have struggled to afford but they are unable to bear the expenses of the transplant.

“I fear every second that she might be attacked by any deadly infection as her system is very vulnerable and prone to infections. She cries uncontrollably with pain and exhausts all her energy, that is the only way she gets a wink of sleep. Her health is deteriorating and I can see that death can soon conquer her if we fail to act immediately. The doctors have told that the transplant should take place in five days, otherwise they may not be able to save her,” - said Shailaja with teary eyes.

This father is left penniless and cannot save his daughter from certain death

Jagdish is the sole breadwinner of the family, he works in a private firm but he was unable to go to work for the past few months. He had spent all his savings and borrowed a huge sum of amount for his daughter’s first transplant. He is neck-deep in debt and is unable to afford the treatment that costs 15 lakhs which can save his daughter’s life.

“We made sure that she did not get any infection, we took utmost care of her - we did everything we could to save her and spent almost 45 lakhs so far on her treatment. Just when we thought that she is out of danger after the first transplant, she is at death's door again. Now we are left with nothing but empty hands to pray for, please help our daughter to survive,” - Shailaja.

How you can help

Only a bone marrow transplant in five days can save this child from a cruel end. The poor parents have left no stone unturned to save their daughter. but they have exhausted all their money and are completely dependent on crowdfunding to help their 6-year-old live.
