Soham Mandal, a 1st-year undergraduate student from Jadavpur University, is going through an unimaginably difficult time. His father, Prasanta Kumar Mandal has been battling Blood Cancer since 19th August 2024 and has been under treatment at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai.
The family has already spent over ₹7 lakhs on initial treatment and survival in Mumbai. But the fight isn’t over. His father now needs an urgent Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) — the only life-saving option at this stage. The total cost for the procedure and follow-up treatment is estimated at ₹12 lakhs, which is sadly beyond the means of Soham’s middle-class family.
To make matters worse, the doctors at Tata Memorial have informed them that due to lack of availability of slots for stem cell collection, the procedure cannot continue in Mumbai. The family has no choice but to shift to Visakhapatnam to carry out the treatment — a sudden and heavy financial blow when they’re already stretched beyond their limit.
Soham is trying to stay strong and continue his education, but the emotional and financial toll of fighting for his father’s life is overwhelming. No student should have to carry this burden alone.
We appeal to all moved by this story, to please come forward. Your help can give this family hope, strength, and a real chance at recovery.
