Turn Off The Tap

Rotaract Club of Tollygunge (Estd. 2017 ) is a non profit club affiliated under Rotary International, run entirely by the youth. From 2017 onward, Rotaract Club of Tollygunge has been initiating various projects and events which help the society at large.

Our new initiative Turn off the Tap has been initiated in Kolkata, where we have fixed the taps on the streets which largely contribute to a great deal of water wastage. These taps are operated by the Government and distribute water on a fixed time basis. However, such taps most of the time are in very bad condition. So in the area of Anwar Shah Road, which is situated in Kolkata, West Bengal, we have fixed close to 15 taps which are in a bad condition, preventing water wastage.

However such an event comes at a very hefty cost. The total event took us almost Rs. 2,000/- including the fees of the plumber. Yet, this small step of saving water is not enough. We have been working tirelessly for the past two years in areas of women empowerment, environment development and child education and since this is a club run by the youth, such events cost a lot which makes it difficult for us to execute or even continue such events.

Anwar Shah Road, is just a small area in Kolkata and there are hundreds of taps which are in this condition throughout the city. We cannot fix all the taps in Kolkata, however we can start a bigger campaign with your support. Such a club which is run by students does not have much resources to count on and yet we all are dreamers of a better tomorrow.

With your help we will be able to achieve this dream of not only conserving water but also in the areas of child education and women empowerment.

So, we hereby request you to support our cause so that we can create a  better future for the posterity to come.
