I am Smriti Thakur and I belong to a lower middle class family based in New Delhi, India. My family consists of four people, including me. My father is the only earning member in my family. He has served 17 years in the Indian Army. Currently he works in Delhi Fire Service as a clerk. His income barely meets my educational needs. My brother is still studying. He is studying Computer Science at Vanderbilt University, in Nashville, TN, USA on a full scholarship, and is currently a rising junior.
After a period of intense hard work, I secured an admission offer from Hollins University, with the prestigious "Global Commitment Scholarship," which covers my tuition fees at college. However, I am falling short by $15000/year, which includes the costs for college dorm, meals, and other expenses.
Due to my family's acute financial crisis, my family isn't able to support me to fund the remaining amount ($15000/year).
It has been my long sought dream to study in the US. After sincere dedication and hard work, I have secured an admission offer, however I'm unable to pay the remainder that my scholarship doesn't cover. It is a stressful situation for me to see my dream slipping away like this.
Please help me make my dream come true. Any contribution is helpful. If it is difficult for you to contribute at this moment, please share this fundraiser with people so that it can reach a wider audience.
Your help will really mean a lot to me. Your help can help me reach my dream and define my future.
