In India, an estimated 89% of 250 million children read below their grade level. 9 in 10 children cannot read. This fundraising campaign is an effort to change the above mentioned scenario.

pencilbricks is a non-profit initiative in Ahmedabad, working with a vision of empowering low-income communities. We run around 15 learning centres in Chandola, Ahmedabad, with the help of our student leaders.
With an aim to empower children to be able to read and write, we wish to provide them exposure to technology in education through fREADom - a reading app. This app, which helps in raising happy readers, will serve as a significant step towards building reading-friendly learning centres in the communities and help our student leaders enhance their students' reading skills.
The app requires an annual subscription which would cost Rs.799/- per child per year. We are currently looking to get subscriptions for 62 children, amounting to Rs.49,538. You can support with any amount suitable for you or sponsor a child's subscription by donating an amount of Rs.799/-.
