Dear Friends and Allies,
Shikhar a.k.a. Sky had multiple seizures on March 31, 2024 and were rushed to the hospital by friends and a family member. The doctors found out they have tuberculosis meningitis (TBM). They were in ICU for a week and half and their brother covered the cost for it. For next few days of hospitalisation was done through a fundraiser. Their condition is still not stable and there were emergency visits to the hospital for severe abdominal pain. The ongoing treatment along with previous diagnosis of Gall Bladder Stones (cholelithiasis) put a lot of pressure of their liver and other organs, and is now also in need for a surgery soon.
This fundraiser is solely for their ongoing treatment for TBM. They are still weak and need assistance with regular chores. We have a caretaker for them expecting we won't need an intensive after May. Now we are back to where we started 2 months back.
They would need health and medical care, and with leave without pay from their work isn't going to be helpful.
They've had 4 seizures so far. We opted for nearest private hospital due to the emergency and situation in hand. With the support from community folks and allies, we could raise money for IPD, medicines, doctor visits and basic needs for friends spending days and nights at the hospital.
They were also struggling with housing situation while the health crisis was ongoing and those costs were also covered with the fundraiser amount.
Now they have weekly diagnostic tests, doctor's fees and medicines to cover for a year till they are able to join work and support themselves.
Sky's relationship with their parents was bitter due to regular traumatic events. It went to the level where Sky had to escape. Their parents keeps trying to reach out but it always end up as episodes of emotional abuse. Irrespective, initially the financial support was given by their brother and uncle, until they asked Sky to shift back home on the family's terms and when Sky refused, they tried to force it on their friends to support with medical, housing and regular care. Our major expenses for each month are mentioned below:

We are expecting a donation of Rs. 65000 approx per month keeping the emergency funds aside
With no source of income while they recover, raising funds to help them with living costs and medical care is important.
Any amount you can donate will help us alot. Sky is also open to loans and promises to repay them slowly in parts whenever its possible for them.
