Hello, my name is Shaurya. I am writing today to share my story and humbly ask for your support in accessing a treatment that could save my life and help me regain my independence. In early 2024, I began experiencing some symptoms that have left me virtually paralysed. I cannot stand for more than a few minutes because it triggers heart palpitations. There is tightness in my neck which makes it imposseible for my neck to support the weight of my head. This is why I am forced to wear a neck brace but it is also useless after a point.

I was diagnosed at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai with Craniocervical Instability (CCI)—a serious condition affecting the junction of the upper spine and skull. CCI is rare and not well understood in India. The available treatments are limited, often risky, and come with significant side effects. I was on the brink of losing hope when I discovered a potential solution: regenerative therapy using stem cells. This innovative treatment, available only in the United States, specifically addresses CCI and has a proven track record of success with minimal side effects. It offers me a chance to treat my condition and rebuild my life. Unfortunately, this treatment is expensive.  Here’s the breakdown:

• Treatment cost: $12,000 for a single injection
• Travel and accommodation: Additional expenses ($10,000) for a week-long stay in Denver, Colorado

As much as I wish this treatment was available in India, it’s not. Moreover, I will need two rounds of injection. In short, I cannot afford this on my own. I am the primary caregiver for my family. My mother, who requires weekly dialysis for her chronic kidney disease, depends on me. My dad is retired and does not draw any income apart from his pension, which is barely enough to meet our hoousehold expenditure. As a result, I have had to fend for myself. I am not only homebound but also have to take medicines to keep my symptoms in check. I am spending thousand of rupees every month without drawing a salary. The consequences have been dire as I am now staring at crushing debt with no means to pay.
