    This fundraiser will benefit

    Shahjahan

    from Trichy, Tamil Nadu

As I am not representing any organization and placing this request as an individual, I think it is proper to introduce myself.

I am Shahjahan, from Tamil Nadu, residing in Delhi. I am active on Facebook and helping the needly during disasters.

For the past six years, I am also helping poor students for their education, to the tune of about Rs 15-20 lakhs every year. All this charity work is done only with the help of my Facebook friends, who contribute generously whenever I make a request.

For educational aid, I don't get money to my account, but I send the beneficiary account details to the donors who directly send to the students.

On Facebook, you can find me @ <Shahjahan R>.

You are aware of how the lockdown terribly affected the daily wagers, migrant workers, roadside vendors, people without shelters, and those who don't have any ration card or I-card to claim the very little benefits provided by the governments.

I have a great team of devoted friends who work in Tamil Nadu during such disasters. Since the lockdown started, my friends are active in the field, distributing food and essential items for the poor and needy.

I would like to mention a few names of my friends who are in the field, whom you might have also known in Tamil circle: Iniyan & Aanman in Chennai, great commanders in organizing and fundraising. Manimaran in Thiruvarur, a teacher who is running a community kitchen. Odiyen Lakshmanan, an activist working amongst tribal people of Coimbatore. Dr. Ramya, a professor in Nagapattinam, cooking and distributing food for 300 people daily. Raajamagal, working in the Trichy area. Ramesh Babu in Chidambaram and Cuddalore. Bhuvana, a teacher in Kumbakonam. Pudukai Selva in Pudukkottai. Sundarapandian in Villupuram.

The list goes on. Charity activities of these friends can also be seen on their Facebook pages.

Since the lockdown started, I was able to organize more than Rupees 5,50,000 (5.5 lakhs) from my Facebook friends and sent them to those in the field. My friends also raised funds from their circles. All put together, the expense comes more than Rs 1 lakh per day for our works.

We were of the hope that lockdown will end by 3 May. Whatever funds or resources we have is sufficient only up to 3 May.

Now the lockdown has been extended again. Our resources have dried up. All these days we have been regularly supplying food and material to the poor, unorganized workers and roadside people.

Many migrant workers depend on our daily supply for survival. All of them have been surviving only with the aid provided by us and will be looking for us again after 3 May. I can't imagine how they would feel if our regular food supply does not reach them on time after 3 May. Hence this fundraising.

As one of the coordinators for all these activists, I request you to donate as much as you can to continue our services to the poor.

Some of you may think :
Why should I donate to an individual's bank account? I won't get any tax exemption for such donations! Is this guy reliable? How can I make sure that the money I give goes only to the poor?

Yes. You are right in your questions. I would have also thought in the same way if I happened to read such an appeal.

But, I can assure that I will use each penny only for the poor affected by this lockdown. All I can say is, you can see on my Facebook page to know more about me.

Y
ou can contribute to this cause only if you feel that this guy speaks from his heart.

For more info, you can see my Facebook page.
With fervent hope, I am waiting.
