SETU FOUNDATION is an independent, registered voluntary organization which has been working for social changes in the Garhwal region of the Himalayas in North India, since the year 2000. SETU Foundation is progressively trying to be a part of India’s growing voluntary support to social development. The organization is continuously contributing in providing humanitarian assistance, accessing and disseminating development related policies, programs and making these accessible to regional and grassroots CBOs through nongovernment organizational and community support, facilitating social changes and development in distinctive ways.

SETU FOUNDATION, contributed its complete efforts in the field of medicinal plant cultivation, women empowerment, Solid Waste Management, Disability, Disaster relief,  Child Health, Gender issue and  Death-Birth Registration in District  Dehradun, Chamoli, Tehri, and Pauri Garhwal, and Haridwar respectively.

BUDS Academy: BUDS Academy is a Primary education program for less privileged children, from March 2016. BUDS ACADEMY is providing English medium primary education to less privileged children (Mostly dropouts).

Starting of the program: Village Mansadevi is one of the intervention villages of Setu Foundation for distinct social development issues. Most of the time the need of primary education facility for less privileged children has been identified by motivators of the Foundation, especially English medium primary education facility. Many times this issue has come across in official monthly meeting of the current program in those months.

Although there is a Govt. primary school and are many English medium schools around the village area. However, these families were interested to get their children to admit in English medium school in order to involve their children in the modern education system. Due to the high fee structure of these schools, they are not able to take admission and still stand away from mainstream education.

After conducting many meetings with these families, the foundation decided to start an English medium primary education program with the help of community contribution. where these less privileged children are being provided an accessible environment for quality education.

With its minimum resources and one room (contributed by a women SHG member of foundation in the village) along with 7 kids foundation initiated a primary education program in the year 2016. Gradually, the number of students increased in the program and it converted into a primary school program.  At present Program has been facilitating the primary education of approx 65 students from very poor/ less privileged section of the society.
Presently Setu Foundation facilitates these kids with rented classrooms, teaching facilities, school maid, free books, stationary facilities, Uniforms, other necessary things and facilities with the support of community contribution. 

BUDS Academy, situated at village Mansadevi, Bypass road Rishikesh, Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India, has completed its three successful years and entering the next year. Setu Foundation is continuously making an effort to receive the support of donors and volunteers for facilitating BUDS Academy to provide more qualitative facilities and creative environment in order to uplift the status of enrolled students.

In addition foundation attempting to improve the financial status of concerning families through skill development and adult education as healthy and illiterate family support needed for the upbringing of the child.
 
Appeal
 Presently the BUDS classes are running in some small rented rooms with minimum facilities. Foundation has arranged space for students, books with primary stationery and teaching staff. However to sustain this effort a lot more needs to be done. Improvement in facilities will enhance the interest of the student in studies along with strengthening the education system of the BUDS program.
 
Along with this to continue the effort some necessary regular essential items are needed. In addition, some regular expenses are some another liabilities of BUDS as an honorarium of teachers and supporting staff, rent, water and electricity bills,  funds to organize some regular meetings with parents and programs for/with children.

With all these regular expense one student cost reach to Rs. 1200-1500 including faculty, furniture, uniform, books and stationery, staff and others in every month.

Foundation is seeking some sponsors who love to be a mentor of these kid/kids and can afford monthly/yearly expense of these kids to support their primary education.
