Mission Unnati- You Can Save an Academic Year of a Child.

A Project For Distribution of  Bags and Uniforms to Children in Schools reopening post the COVID-19 Lockdown
A parent from a low-income background before sending their kids to school often has to worry about various costs that must be met. It is with great difficulty that they manage to fund their child's tuition fees but that is not where the costs of sending a child to school end. The cost of books, bags, shoes, and uniforms although seem like small expenses yet add up to be a great amount for a low-income parent.  These invisible expenses attached to sending a child to school have such a great impact that it has been observed that the capacity of a parent to provide for these extra costs becomes a deciding factor for the attendance of a child in school for the coming academic year.

" School uniforms and bags can help children – especially the poorest children – to continue attending school." - Jigar Vaishnav (President S.P. Seva Sansthan)

Who will you be helping through your donations
Covid-19 Pandemic break out and the following lockdown has severely hit the low-income families and their source of income. It has pushed them further down the economic status that they previously held. In the State of Rajasthan, the school will reopen in the month of July and many parents from a low-income background will wonder if they can meet the expenses of sending their kids to school. Our organization through this project wants to take care of these extra expenses so the children's attendance does not depend on these expenses anymore.

Why is the success of this project important
The success of this project is more important in the year 2020 than any other previous year because it could mean helping the student drop out rates to not rise drastically. It is expected that hard-hit low-income parents will consider withdrawing their children from school. The success of this project could mean saving an academic year of a child. Through this project, we believe we can at least help parents feel that these extra costs have been taken care of.

More Background about Project Unnati
This is an annual project undertaken by our organization for school children in low-income private schools. Last year we distributed bags and uniforms to 1000 children in the districts of Rajasthan. This year we aim to expand our effort 10 fold by aiming to reach 10,000 children in the areas of Rajasthan. It is also the need of the hour to expand to this scale this year due to the crisis of COVID-19 that has hit our country and shook the economic state of low-income families the most.
