Due to COVID,
The entire education system has been revolutionized with a shift from chalk-talk to a digital mode. However, a recent survey conducted by DSERT shows that a massive digital divide has grown- 38 lakh (approx.) out of 1.05 crore students in Karnataka having no access to an internet connection and 31.3 lakh (approx.) students are without devices! We are seeing these poor children being denied their fundamental right to education. Consequentially, our society is also seeing a rise in child labor, begging and child trafficking. The lack of education has a life-long economic impact, apart from severely affecting their physical and mental health.
With the uncertainty in reopening of schools due to the prevailing pandemic, students may need to continue with online classes this year too. Children of poor parents are unable to participate due to technological illiteracy and poverty. In order that the students don’t lose another year of education, Mercy Mission has formed a consortium with NGOs, device vendors and local schools serving the underprivileged, to provide tablets with preloaded content. These tablets offer ease in access to educational content at all times, portability and reusability. Each tablet costing Rs.10,000 -11,000 will be donated to deserving students identified by their respective schools/NGOs.
Mercy Mission is aiming towards a challenging goal of 10,000 tablets costing Rs.11 Crores. Please contribute generously towards this cause to help bridge the digital divide and provide education to the underprivileged students.
80G exemption certificate will be issued for all donations within 30-45 days of campaign ending by the NGO.
This is a 100% not for profit campaign, and we will disclose the use of proceeds in a transparent report which will be sent to all contributors of the campaign. With the uncertainty in reopening of schools due to the prevailing pandemic, students may need to continue with online classes this year too.
