Our philosophy at the Himalayan Trust for Natural History Art generates from our belief that art can be a means to help provide holistic education to children at the grass roots level, preparing them mentally and physically to meet the challenges of day to day living as well as the academics. It could also be a very important way to make them environmental conscious while helping them bring livelihood and sustenance in the future.
Our Mission
At Himalayan Trust for Natural History Art we want to create spaces for the underprivileged children of the Darjeeling, Kalimpong and the surrounding hills to explore and learn about sustainability and conservation of Nature and its resources through the field of Natural History Art and ecological studies and other traditional art forms.
We organize an annual event as a celebration and showcase of our work at HTNHA. The event titled Nature in Art International Event provides a unique platform for these young minds to interact and learn from other like-minded individuals, students, groups, institutes and organizations from all around the globe. It also gives them an opportunity to explore different facets of their life through a celebration of diverse skills and coming together of beautiful creative minds while learning to research, value, honor, preserve and celebrate their own traditions, cultures, nature and their environment thus bridging the gap between art and science and other disciplines. This has a remarkably deep impact as experience the amalgamation of the 3 H’s – Head, Heart and Hands.
Keeping in tune with this objective, our much awaited event of the year NATURE IN ART – 5th Edition, May 2024 is just round the corner. A three day gathering of visual artists, photographers, educators, speakers and performing artists from Kalimpong, Darjeeling, Sikkim, Kolkata, Gorubathan, Jabalpur, Shillong, Kanpur, Pondicherry, Nepal, Japan and France, with the single fold purpose of raising public awareness about our dwindling natural heritage while joining together in remembering, celebrating and reconnecting to honor, preserve and protect Mother Earth and her biodiversity through the medium of an art and photography exhibition, presentations, workshops, performances, storytelling and other offerings of the heart.
