Hello everybody,
I'm Sarfaraj Ansari, I've completed my primary(10th grade) education from a Teach For India classroom and completed my grade 12 from Elphinstone College, Churchgate, Mumbai. I live in the slums of Dharavi, Mumbai. I'm passionate about programming and aspire to be a Software Engineer (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning) and then would like to support back the society and my community with my technical skills.

My father is the only earning member of the family. He is a tailor and earns 1.5 lakh per year. I want to work hard and become capable enough to give my family a better life. I decided to work extremely hard towards my dream of being an excellent engineer. To start with, I joined a tech startup as a paid intern!
After my board exams in Maharashtra state, I gave multiple entrance exams like JEE, VITEEE & CET. I studied really really hard for these exams and practiced a lot using the resources freely available on the internet. After giving exams, I secured provisional admission to Computer Science Engineering at Vellore Institute of Technology with a specialization in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning. I was selected in fee category-1 (lowest fee category in any VIT)

During the pandemic, I've always tried to learn as many skills as I can, I learned many programming languages:
- C
- C++
- Javascript
- Python
I learned these languages from a computer science course at Harvard University (CS50).
I also joined a non-profitable organization called Claylab Education Foundation, which was formed to support grade 11-12 students with education and holistic development. This organization helped to gain exposure to programming through its coding clubs. There I worked in teams which helped me learn valuable skills like teamwork and leadership. There I also learn some frameworks like-
- React js
- Node Js
- Django
With these frameworks, I've got the ability to make dynamic & single-page websites. This got me my first internship at a tech company. There I earned money which helped me and my family. I've worked for more than 10 months as a full-stack developer in the company.
The best thing is that my full tuition fee is being paid by the CEO of the company. After all this, I'm still in need of money to pay my mess & hostel fees which are 1.5Lakh.

I'm raising money so I can pay the hostel & mess fees and continue my journey of being a better programmer. This will help me become the first undergraduate in my family. While I’m doing all I can to raise money for the fees of this college, I just can’t do it without you.

- Start building personal projects on Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI & ML)
- Explore everything which I'm not yet familiar with
- Join clubs that interest me.
- Make many connections, talk to people, and understand more about this world.

- I.5Lakh will directly be used for my first-year hostel & mess fee
- I will use the rest 50000 to buy a good laptop that has certain specifications like 8GB ram, intel i5 processor, and 500GB SSD so that it can run software like the Android Studio
- update: The CEO has agreed to pay the rest of the required money, so I stopped the fundraiser at 59000Rs
My personal projects as a web developer :
- Marvelous Ludo
This is a ludo game with a theme of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I have built this using React js as the frontend framework and Django as the backend framework. Other than my technical skills, I applied my grade 12 geometry to build up a ludo board (treating it as a graph in an x-y plane) and wrote algorithms to find the path of the pieces (like a locus of points). I stored the position of pieces in the database system by storing the coordinates of the pieces.

This is a demo e-commerce app. I build this app using React js as the frontend framework and Django as the backend framework. In this application, I can easily add or delete products with descriptions and price details. This application can be used as an online store.

Summary of my expenditure at VIT :
Tuition fees: 8L (2 L per year)-being paid by the CEO of the company where I work as an intern.
Hostel & mess fees: 6 L (1.5 Lakh per year)
Total: 14 L

The required money is 6L (hostel & mess) out of which I'm just raising money for the first year (200000Rs).
update: The CEO has agreed to pay the rest of the required money, so I stopped the fundraiser at 59000Rs and marked it at successful. Thank you so much everybody for supporting me:)
