Support Sanjana(kerala's first transgender National awardee)in Achieving her medical transition and career in dance.
I am Sanjana Chandran, a transwoman from Kozhikkode, kerala. Am the very first transgender national award winner (Natvar Guru Gopikrishna Award 2021 for Bharathanatyam held at Chhattisgarh) and International kalathilakam 2022(held at Rajasthan) of kerala.
I was also the first transgender student of Kozhikkode and have completed my course in Functional English (2019-2022)at Malabar Christian college Kozhikkode. Despite all the hardships and stigmas I strived to complete my education and was also awarded the best student achiever award 2021.
Dance is my all time passion and being discriminated in this society for my gender identity and colour I have struggled a lot to achieve this awards. I believed this awards would change things but none of my awards made it easier.
I have made a milestone by participating in the Calicut university interzone athletic meet and won a gold medal and was the arts and sports champion.
I also actively participate in social activities and have been selected as the president of district youth welfare tansgender club(maarivillu). Am also currently helding the executive member post of Disha(an organization which works for the marginalized) and Pride in practice society (an organization which aims the queer affirming health care).I am also engaged of conducting gender sensitization classes in schools and colleges.
Even though I made an identity of my own in many fields I still couldn't go on with any of my medical transition process(sex reassignment surgeries and laser treatment).
Now am looking for helping hands who can support me to go on with my career in dance.
I have a lot of competitions still waiting which I have to drop just because of my financial instability. Please help me to continue my medical transition process and also for getting a shelter.
I also don't even have a shelter and I strive to pay my rent(most of the people are not willing to give me a home and even if they provide me with a shelter I have to pay excessive rent than any other cisgender people have to pay) . A small contribution of yours may change my life and help me achieve the dreams of my life.
