Hello! My name is Sandrapati Joseph Ananda Paul and I come from the Ongole District in Andhra Pradesh. I recently have been accepted into the Ph.D. in History at the Lancaster University, United Kingdom and I need your help to attend!

Fees & Living Expenses
The total sum of course fees, college community charge and college deposit come to 23048pounds, equivalent to 25,20,245 Indian Rupee. I have to submit a financial declaration for the same by December 1, 2024
As the fees have been raised, I am now also hoping to work part-time to secure my living expenses and other costs, but I would appreciate having a head start on this.
This is what is reflected in the updated goal amount:
Tuition fee: £21082
Visa costs: £490
International Health Surcharge: £776 for one year
Airfare (round trip): £700
Total = £23048 or 25,20,245 INR.

Introduction !!
My name is Joseph Ananda Paul Sandrapati. I hail from a financially disadvantaged Telugu Dalit family in a remote Yerragonda Palem village, Prakasham District, Andhra Pradesh. Despite I have applied for Government of Andhra Pradesh's overseas scholarship for underprivileged students from our state, enabling me to pursue my PhD studies abroad, since the government has changed the entire process, I have gone through for selection of scholarship is nullified and again I have to start from the first step. I am even ready to go through but the only opportunity i got will be slipping away because i have to submit the financial declaration form by December 1, 2024.
Despite severe economic hurdles, I am the first in my poor Dalit family to complete a master’s degree in history from the University of Hyderabad.
I’ve recently been selected for a PhD in History programme at the University of Lancaster, UK, an institution renowned for its academic excellence worldwide. This rare, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for someone from a poor Telugu Dalit family like mine is of immense significance. It will not only help me achieve my higher education dream but also contribute to the Andhra Pradesh Government's welfare schemes.
My doctoral research project at the University of Lancaster is titled "History of Sanitation in Colonial Andhra 1858-1947." This study is directly relevant to the welfare schemes of the Andhra Pradesh Government as it will provide insights into the historical context of public health in our state. The generous award of the Andhra Pradesh government overseas scholarship for the underprivileged can support my PhD study, which will investigate the understanding of pandemics and diseases by both British Western medicine and indigenous medicines in colonial Andhra. Pursuing my Doctor of Philosophy degree, I shall analyse colonial Telugu documents to investigate the myriad medical treatments employed within indigenous efforts to address public health and wellness in colonial Andhra Pradesh.
Earning my PhD at the University of Lancaster, UK, holds immense value to me. However, as a first-generation student from an economically disadvantaged Telugu Dalit background, I am experiencing severe financial hardships. I cannot cover the PhD tuition fees and maintenance costs required to study at Lancaster University, UK. Your kind support at this crucial time is vital to achieving my higher education goals abroad.
The university has given me less than a month's deadline to submit financial declaration covering my education, cover tuition fees, and provide maintenance for the PhD programme. Without the support of you all I can in no way pursue this PhD education, which is an impossible opportunity for a poor Telugu Dalit student like me.
Therefore, I urge you all to support an underprivileged Dalit students like me, which would aid my pursuit of a PhD at Lancaster University in the UK.
Delays in submission of financial declaration could jeopardize my admission and dream of completing a PhD in the history of medicine in colonial Andhra.
I sincerely appreciate your empathy and understanding in considering my humble appeal. Your kind help in this matter would be deeply appreciated.
Yours Sincerely,
S Joseph Ananda Paul
M.A in History
University of Hyderabad.
