All I want right now is for my son to be healthy and safe so that I can take him in my arms and take him home. I can’t bear to see him on the ventilator anymore, tubes attached to his body. My little baby is only a month old, but he has already suffered from
Pneumonia, Covid and 2 major heart procedures. And now the doctors have told us that the hole in his heart can only be cured with open-heart surgery. And we have no money left to afford his treatment. Please help me, please help me save my baby,” says Dimple Singh, mother of one-month-old baby Atharv.

Their celebration of a newborn boy has turned into uncertain and devastating sleepless nights. New parents Dimple and Jitendra have only one thing on their mind- how can they arrange for the funds required to afford an open heart surgery for their one-month-old baby Atharv. Born with a hole in his heart, Atharv needs urgent open-heart surgery to survive but his poor parents who cannot afford the ₹3L for it are worried that they won't be able to take their child back home, safely.

Celebrations turned into a nightmare
“The day when I held Atharv in my arms was the best day of my life. I felt that our family was complete - me, my husband, our little daughter and a newborn son. We made so many plans for him. But our happiness was short-lived. Within a week my baby got sick. I still remember that dreadful day when he was crying, gasping for air and suddenly his whole body turned blue,” says Dimple, Atharv’s mother.
When Atharv was rushed to the hospital he was diagnosed with Pneumonia and was immediately put on a ventilator. When there were no signs of his symptoms toning down, the baby underwent cardiac monitoring where he was diagnosed with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) - a hole in between the heart’s lower pumping chamber that pumps the oxygen-rich blood to the lungs instead of the rest of the body. This leads to an overworked and weak heart..
Atharv, a one-month-old warrior
While doctors recommended an urgent ballooning process to treat him, Atharv got diagnosed with Covid and was put under isolation for 12 days. But he bravely fought the virus, underwent a ballooning process and a banding surgery to narrow his artery and limit the blood flow. But even after these procedures, newborn Atharv is still not out of danger. He will need urgent open-heart surgery. At this tender age, Atharv has been pushed into a life and death situation and only your help can bring him out of it.
“I have only spent 8 days with my son. I’m dying to hold him in my arms. But the cost to do that…to take my baby out of the ventilator and bring him home safe and healthy is way beyond our means. This open-heart surgery will end all my baby’s pain and struggle but how will we afford it?” worries Dimple
Already in debt Atharv’s parents are helpless
Jithendra, Atharv’s father, who works as a labourer in an export factory took loans and borrowed around ₹4 lakh for the treatment already. They don't have anything left and are desperately hoping for help.
