Working as an Educator for more than a decade, volunteering with an NGO, is a mother, life has thrown many challenges to grow. I witnessed the gender-bias inequality in each area of life right from childhood, in school, in marriage, and in society. And believe me, it is very different between a boy and a girl to grow as an individual.
My mother was a home tutor, a strong-willed optimistic lady, who taught students from various backgrounds and uplifted their life. Therefore, since childhood, my call to become a Teacher was destined!
I graduated with B.Sc in Biochemistry and B.Ed by 2002. Then worked in premier schools as a Science Educator for 14 years and currently volunteering with an NGO for teaching Yoga and Meditation.
I have conducted Free Yoga and Meditation classes for underprivileged kids in different Government Schools. Recently completed M.Sc in Dietetics from IGNOU. I have been offered a conditional letter from the University of Cambridge, to study M.Phil in Education.
Over the years I always sighted fewer and fewer girls in classes, especially in Secondary schools and in STEM programs. Me belonging to the minority have witnessed child marriages at a very young age, observed girls quitting their dreams just to marry and settle. Girls are treated as a burden, but definitely, there are exceptions in these cases where fortunate girls get the opportunity to study and complete their Graduation. Women become victims of domestic violence due to a lack of Education and courage to come out against these threats in society.
Working for women empowerment and girls' education at a lower scale, I realized that I need to focus more and channelize my full potential in this field. With SWOT analysis I became aware that I need a platform to work concretely in eradicating this gender-bias. Gradually, I started exploring different educational programs which can help me to learn skills, upgrade my research skills and knowledge.
I finally found my calling and applied to the M.Phil in Education at University of Cambridge. Fortunately, I have received a conditional offer letter from the university but did not receive the funding from the funding bodies. I failed to receive scholarships too. Approached few politicians but did not get any response.
So now I am badly looking for funds to get confirmed admission to the program starting from October 2021. My research interest lies in doing Gender Bias Education at the Secondary level in schools, promoting Girls Education and Women Empowerment in India.
I had initially hoped to secure either a sponsorship/scholarship or a student loan in order to pursue the program. However, both these options have become unviable, and I feel like I have no other option but to seek assistance through crowdfunding.
This fundraiser is for generating funds for my University Fees. I need funds by 11th July 2021 as by 31st July 2021 I must complete my all conditions. I plan to use these funds totally towards my University Fees.
I have managed to raise 10 lakh on my own. But I cannot raise the full amount on my own. Thus I am in need of raising 40 lakh for the annual fees to secure my seat.
