The public is a major stakeholder in airline travel but, unfortunately, is not informed of the risks involved and the safety standards of the airlines to choose from.

The Delhi High Court has admitted the writ petition filed by safety matters foundation seeking Flight Data Recorder Data.
Safety Matters Foundation is an NGO which is involved in establishing a generative safety culture wherein every stakeholder feels responsible for their safety and that of others.
Accident investigation is a critical element that identifies the root cause so that they are not repeated. Unfortunately, these investigations are held private in India, and the flight recorder data is not shared with the public.
The public has an overarching interest in Safety. The NGO is contesting a writ petition in the Delhi High Court seeking access to aircraft flight recorder data so that experts other than the investigators can provide an independent opinion and enhance safety.
The funds will be utilised for legal fees and developing an information-sharing application so that the stakeholders are informed of the status of safety protection available to them and the risks involved in travelling by air. The foundation also conducts surveys and safety studies to enhance safety protection.
