Dear Friends and Supporters,

I hope this message finds you well. I'm reaching out to you with a heartfelt request for assistance. A month ago, on September 14th, my life took an unexpected turn when I took my beloved mother, S Vedhavalli, for an ultrasound due to a mild stomach ache and nausea. To our surprise, we discovered a sizable tumor, approximately 12 cm in size, on her right ovary. This news was undoubtedly a shock, especially considering my mother's age of 68 and her pre-existing health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, thyroid issues, compromised lungs (a result of a severe COVID-19 infection in 2021), pontine stroke (in 2021), and varicose veins.

Following this challenging diagnosis, we embarked on a journey to provide her with the medical care she desperately needed. She was admitted to the Apollo First Med Hospital in Kilpauk, Chennai, for a tumor removal surgery. Given her comorbidities, she had to undergo pre-operative therapies to prepare her frail body for the surgery. We placed our hope in the medical team, hoping for a successful operation and a smooth recovery.

The surgery went well, but the road to recovery proved to be more challenging than expected. Complications arose, and she faced respiratory issues, including food aspiration, which compromised her lung function. She endured significant suffering in the ICU, and her condition deteriorated.

As days turned into weeks, my mother faced further setbacks. An abdominal infection emerged due to the slow healing of her surgical wound, and she had to endure a regimen of antibiotics. The lack of nutrition took a toll on her general health, and prolonged bed rest led to the development of atelectasis, a condition that brought on episodes of breathing difficulties. She had to rely on a Ryle's tube for nutrition.

Despite these challenges, there were moments of hope. Last Wednesday, October 18th, she showed signs of improvement, and we were planning for her discharge. But fate had different plans. Early Thursday morning, she started bleeding through her nostrils, followed by a severe bout of coughing up approximately 500 ml of blood. This turn of events led to her being rushed back to the ICU, where the stress of the situation caused her surgical wound to open, requiring two subsequent surgeries to address the injuries and re-suture her abdomen. The healing of her sutures requires her not to breathe on her own, or cough, or any form of strain that can open up the sutures again. She’s been given a paralysing agent, along with sedatives and put on a ventilator to support her breathing. Recently, today they have identified a blood clot on her deep veins which might lead to a case of pulmonary embolism for which she’s being treated at the ICU.

The emotional and financial burden of this ongoing medical crisis is significant. The medical bills are mounting, and the situation has left us in a state of despair. We are reaching out to you, our friends, family, and compassionate individuals, to ask for your support. Your generous contributions will go toward covering the cost of my mother's medical treatment and ongoing care. Your kindness can help us provide the best possible care for her and give her the chance to recover and return to a life of health and happiness.

No donation is too small, and every contribution makes a difference. Please consider donating to our crowdfunding campaign and sharing this message with your network. Your support is our lifeline in this challenging time.
