I am Dharshana, living in Chennai, and this is regarding my mom (aged 53) - who was a primary school teacher taking care of kids in school, always smiling, looking too young for her age, loved to read and sing, and sometimes danced with me.. She was always healthy and fit, until she started getting high-grade fevers that would last days, the doctors couldn't diagnose what she had, multiple tests and later we heard the dreaded C word Cancer. She was diagnosed with Stage IV - Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma (Blood Cancer) in July, 2019.

She underwent a treatment called R-CHOP which included 6 sessions of Chemotherapy at Apollo Greams road and teynampet. During the first few courses of her chemo, she needed an indefinite stay at the hospital due to chemo's side effects which included drop in blood, platelet and WBC count along with other complications. She stayed so strong through all of this (even though she was so weak and couldn't physically hold a glass of water) and was considered to be in remission in January 2020. But the doctor also warned us we would never know if there will be a recurrence.

Not too long after that, three weeks ago, our worst fears were confirmed as she was lying down with fever for over 2 weeks and the tests showed that she is once again POSITIVE for lymphoma. Her Cancer is more aggressive than before and the doctor advised us to do Salvage Chemotherapy combined with Autologous Transplant which will cost 30 lakhs INR / 40,000 USD. We are moving her to the Adyar cancer institute for further treatment.

This has put my family in a very difficult situation both mentally and financially and we are in a lot of debt. I am a working woman but what I make won't be sufficient for what is needed for this treatment. Please help me get my mother treated, I cannot imagine life without her.
