Dear compassionate friends,
Since the onset of the ethnic conflict in Manipur on May 3, 2023, the Rural Women Upliftment Society (RWUS) has been working tirelessly on the ground to support displaced communities—especially women and children. With your generous support, we have reached over 21,000 internally displaced persons (IDPs) across 102 relief camps, providing them with essential supplies, healthcare, education, and psychosocial support.
🌾 Project Update: Supporting Women Rebuilding Their Lives
We’re grateful to share that our livelihood support project is showing promising results. Many displaced women—once forced to flee their homes and now sheltering in relief camps or rented spaces—are starting to rebuild their lives.
With your contributions, RWUS has been able to provide essential materials and support to women engaged in weaving, street vending, food stalls, tailoring, and local crafts. These women are now resuming work, regaining confidence, and earning a steady income to support their families.
“Initial feedback is very encouraging. Despite the trauma and loss, their resilience is inspiring.”
However, challenges remain. Some women face health-related hurdles, and artisans are struggling to access markets for their traditional products. RWUS is actively working on mentoring, monitoring, and creating market linkages to address these issues.
We are committed to reaching more women in need and ensuring no one is left behind.
