Help Me Take India’s Ancient Heritage of Bhagwan Ram to the Global Academic Stage

My name is Rudra Vikrama Srivastav, and I am an independent archaeologist from Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. I am currently a Fellow Researcher associated with the Foundation for Indian Historical and Cultural Research (FIHCR).

I have been invited to participate in the 27th Conference of the European Association for South Asian Archaeology and Art (EASAA), which will be held in Ghent, Belgium from 6–10 July 2026. EASAA is one of the world’s most prestigious academic conferences dedicated to the archaeology, art, history, and cultural heritage of South Asia.

At the conference, I will present my research paper titled:

“Garhwa: An Early Centre of the Rāma Cult”
In 2024, I discovered the oldest known temple of Bhagwan Ram at Garhwa in Prayagraj.
My research examines the archaeological, epigraphic, and iconographic evidence from Garhwa, an important early centre associated with the development of Rāma worship in India. The study contributes to our understanding of the evolution of one of India’s most enduring religious and cultural traditions and highlights the significance of Garhwa in the history of South Asian sacred landscapes.

Participation in EASAA offers a rare opportunity to present Indian research before an international audience of archaeologists, historians, art historians, epigraphists, and heritage scholars from across the world. It will enable meaningful academic exchange, foster international collaborations, and help bring greater global visibility to India’s rich archaeological heritage.

As an independent researcher, I am seeking support to help cover the expenses associated with attending the conference, including:

•  International airfare
•  Accommodation in Belgium
•  Conference registration fees
•  Visa and travel insurance
•  Local transportation and subsistence expenses

Estimated Budget:

  • International Airfare: ₹1,20,000
  • Accommodation in Belgium and Other Schengen Countries: ₹35,000
  • Conference Registration Fee: ₹15,000
  • Visa, Travel Insurance & Documentation: ₹10,000
  • Local Transportation & Meals: ₹20,000

Total Amount Required: ₹2,00,000

In the unlikely event that I am unable to attend the conference due to visa or unforeseen circumstances, donors will be informed and the funds will either be refunded where possible.

Every contribution, regardless of size, will directly support my participation in this important academic event and help ensure that Indian archaeological and cultural research is represented on a global platform.

I sincerely thank you for your support, encouragement, and belief in the value of historical and archaeological research.

With gratitude,

Rudra Vikrama Srivastav
