Today, more than 820 million people do not have enough to eat. The total number of undernourished has been increasing for several years in a row. This means that today one in every nine people in the world suffers from hunger.
We the students of Jai Hind College are trying to irradiate a small share in the world’s hunger problems.
A fast-food joint such as Mc Donald’s produces around 90,000 tons of food waste annually. Our aim here is to collect enough money to be able to donate to foundations such as Roti Bank which provide food to those who need it, to those - that if they were given the food wasted at such joints would solve their hunger problems
Hunger is often not a food problem – but a logistics problem.
Food banking systems like Roti Bank solve just that: by capturing surplus food and delivering it to the people who need it most, engaging all sectors of society (governments, business, and civil) in the process. Food banks acquire donated food and make it available to those in need through an established network of community agencies.
