Location: Village Darapur, Aligarh, UP
The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.
We are representatives of ‘ROOOTS FOUNDATION’, AN NGO registered at Delhi, are working on a project to build a library for rural underprivileged children/students of Aligarh UP at a central location, village Darapur, situated 10 km from the main city Aligarh.
The project proposes to set up a library which can fulfill the needs of providing basic educational infrastructure, a good environment to study, mentorship & coaching support, clean drinking and sanitation facilities, digital education, and complete career guidance to both elementary and secondary level children. After doing survey, we have chosen village Darapur, as there is a deficit of educational facilities in the surrounding rural area of around 20 km. Therefore, we are trying to fulfill basic educational needs for children. To build the library, we have also secured permission from all concerned delegates like BSA and village people, etc. The school headmistress is giving her full support in it.
At present, we already have started library work from one ROOM to kickstart our operation, which has been set up with racks, nearly 1000 books, and a little sitting arrangement.
But now, we are in dire need of upgrading library facilities for better education such as its rooms renovation, arranging the complete collections of books, electricity backup, Digital education setup, mentorship & coaching support, etc. We aim to fulfill its every need without delay. The project has already started and active from the 1st of July 2021.
The aim is to provide a basic and efficient educational infrastructure with a greater choice of books, study materials, and a guide to give directions on how to use the library to their benefit and it will be freely accessible to children of all age groups. This project is conceived with an idea to provide a public space for any academic and educational activities which could benefit the students primarily and the community at large.
Library operation: We plan to operate this library according to the covid guidelines and have divided children in groups and given them different time slots to avail the facilities in the most effective way.
