    This fundraiser will benefit

    Ranu Yadav

    from Pune, Maharashtra

I am Ranu Yadav. I was a student at Avasara Academy, Pune where I completed my 12th with subjects including English, Chemistry, physics and Biology. I was brought up in Pune, Maharashtra. I come from a financially weaker family where my father is the only earning source and my mother is a homemaker. We have 6 members in my family: 4 siblings and my parents. My father is an aluminum glass laborer but due to the outbreak of covid-19 he lost his job, so currently we are living on our savings and money borrowed from his close friends.

Till grade 7th I was in a government school in Yerwada which operated in partnership with TFI (Teach For India). At TFI, I got exposure to opportunities that helped me learn more about the world and allowed me to develop my interpersonal skills through experiential learning along with a voyage to self discovery by overcoming my personal challenges. In the year 2016, I got into Avasara Academy by earning a 98% scholarship that allowed me to study in a Cambridge Board. At Avasara, I was exposed to a holistic approach and experiential learning with subjects such as Global perspective during my IGCSE year (Grade10) and Environmental Studies. Avasara gave me an exposure to the wide spectrum of research that allowed me to explore domains of study areas and global issues. If it wasn’t Avasara, I wouldn’t be the same person that I am today. Avasara became the reason I could continue my studies up till here because my financial condition doesn’t allow me to afford this expensive education considering the income level of my family and the number of children(4) it has to support.
Moreover, during my school years of serving as head girl, co- founder of Women Firing Football, and a core member plus HOD of Recruitment department of Mula Mutha Revival, I have realized my potential of becoming a true leader who can organize everything efficiently. I have worked with a large number of people to organize a tournament, clean drives, annual function, sports fair and I enjoyed working with them. I liked socializing and learning from others as learning is an unending process. All these experiences strengthened my skills of building confidence, problem-solving skills, critical thinking, communication and leadership. Such initiatives have made me always think out of the box and always put my opinion on the table which is very crucial to present oneself as an individual.

Recently, I got into BML Munjal University, which is nationally ranked 6th for best Academia Industry Alliance by the education world. I want to pursue BBA in Finance along with the experiential learning provided at Munjal University to get exposed to the ecosystem of the professional world. This program requires me to do tons of research, write reports, work on projects across the city, industry etc. Hence, for me to make the most of research opportunities, I need a laptop to explore various domains of global issues and work out solutions and suggestions.
Moreover, throughout my middle and high school, I was always involved in various community services so it is my long term investment and it has always been in my plans. Hence, over the next few years at BMU, I will try gaining knowledge from different walks of life from a group of diverse students and faculty to better understand the world. I always believe in giving back to our society in whatever small or big way. Throughout my life, I plan to keep myself involved in giving back all the knowledge and experience I have to my community to create impacts in their lives in a positive way.
Not to mention, as stated earlier my high school education was wholesomely possible because I received a 98% scholarship from my former school, Avasara Academy. My family can't afford to pay the amount as our annual income is less than 2 lakh rupees. There are 6 people dependent on this income. My family's financial situation doesn’t allow me to purchase a laptop. I have always been passionate about learning eversince I got TFI fellows who opened my eyes to what real education is, making me curious to question and find answers to explore the outer world. I belong to a family where educating girls is not considered as worthwhile and on top of that poor economic background makes it even harder to study further. However, regardless of these issues, my keenness and passion for educating myself has always taken me ahead in every aspect of gaining the best education from one of the best schools. I don’t want my financial condition to stop me from dreaming the life I wish to create for myself and for girls like me in future.Hence, receiving donations will boost my self-confidence, knowing that I not only completed a very important task, but also took the responsibility of creating a foundation for getting me closer to my career goals. It will bring me one step closer to my dreams. Also, I believe in the importance of earning a college degree. Every small donation would help me get a step closer to my vision and will push me /encourage me further towards my BBA in Finance degree and my dreams of one day having a successful career as a Financial Analyst. Since everything has become digital now, having a laptop is a necessity and essential as it would allow me to organize my learning at one place and would be a great exposure to the ecosystem of the upcoming professional world. It would equip me with digital knowledge which is a very important skill in the 21st Century. I'm planning to buy ASUS VivoBook K15 OLED (2021) . Being the first generation in my family to attend college, I have always aspired to learn the right way to manage money and to produce successful budgets. I also believe in giving back to my community by helping others in financial crises, so they won’t have the same financial burdens that I had growing up in a single family household. Five years from now I see myself employed at a large firm, crunching numbers, evaluating, and solving certain financial matters. I will feel blessed to have an opportunity to be able to raise enough funds to purchase a laptop that would help fulfill my dream and I will prove that I do have what it takes to not only be a successful student, but an outstanding financial analyst.
I appreciate every small effort of yours to help me get a laptop.
Thank you for taking interest in my story and extending your helping hands.
