Overview

Akhilam Madhuram is the title of my solo Classical Kathak Dance Recital to be held on 16th November in Bangalore, India, at KEA Prabhath Rangamandira under the guidance of my dance Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Sri T.D. Rajendra with live music accompaniments by musicians: Siddhartha Belmannu(vocal), Praveen D. Rao (tabla), Gurumurthy Vaidya (pakhawaj), Shruti Kamath (sitar), Sameer (flute) and Smt.Nirupama Rajendra (padhant). As it is a Non-Profit event, I need your support to cover expenses.


About me

I am Ranju Ramachandran, a kathak classical dancer from Bangalore. I have been learning dance for the past 10 years under the tutelage of Kathak exponents, Gurus Smt. Nirupama Rajendra and Sri. TD Rajendra. Right from the age of three, dance has always fascinated me and has been an integral part of my life. I had my first classical dance training when I was 12yrs old in bharathanatyam carrying on for six years. Following which I joined Abhinava Dance Company  that became the turning point in my life making me confident, better and passionate about the dance form, urging me to have a holistic understanding of other aspects of stage production like costumes, props and jewellery management.
 I have been a part of the performing unit in the company and have performed at numerous national and international conferences in various cities across India. I have been fortunate enough to attend workshops by legendary kathak dancers Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Padma Bhushan Kumudhini Lakhia, conducted by Abhinava Dance Company. I have also choreographed for various school and college programmes when I was pursuing Under graduation. I am an architect by profession, but as a novice in the field one does not get as much commensurated. As such my contribution to supporting the family is minimal. Given this, my dance training was mostly supported by the scholarships offered by my gurus. This year I have been humbled by the support a kind sponsor has extended in order to make my Rangapravesh a reality!


About Akhilam Madhuram

Traditionally, in Indian Classical dance, when the Guru deems a disciple ready after years of  training, he or she does a special dance performance called "Rangapravesh"
Akhilam Madhuram is my Rangapravesh, my first debut performance following the years of training I have had from my Gurus in the Indian Classical Dance form, Kathak. This is my humble offering of gratitude to my Gurus, family, art connoisseurs, friends, dance peers, the audience and each and every patron of the art form. A Rangapravesh is the final graduation performance in Dance after which along with the blessings of my Guru, I hope to pass on the art form to other aspiring learners of the art in a way of giving back to the art form what it has instilled in me over Rangapravesh

Akhilam Madhuram is a 2hour solo stage performance with an ensemble of eminent musicians and singers, which has been a dream from the moment I started training in kathak. I have always been passionate and devoted to my training and have dreamt of performing in front of the world. With your support, I will be closer to fulfilling a dream that I have nurtured for close to 10 years and your support can make it a reality.
