Mrs. Manjula's husband, Muthuraj, - an autodriver, a teetotaler, is suffering from kidney failure and is on renal dialysis for the past two months. Doctors have advised that he needs to undergo a kidney transplant operation since his chances of survival on dialysis are limited.  He is the main breadwinner of the family, while Mrs. Manjula is a domestic maid. They have 3 daughters, two of whom are studying while the eldest is married. Their Ayushman card has been declined at leading hospitals due to which Mrs. Manjula has had to source about Rs.80000 from a moneylender at 5%per month to pay the hospital bills (about Rs.100000/-) and weekly dialysis expenses(about Rs.3000/- per week) to date. The kidney replacement is expected to cost them an additional Rs.1000000/- (Rs.Ten lakhs) to save the life of Mrs.Manjula's spouse.
